Underground utility detection is essentially the process of identifying and locating the utilitiesrunning below the ground. The grid of pipes and cables which run below the ground such as the telephone lines ,water pipes, sewer lines ,natural gas and the many other fiber optic cables are spread across hectares or kms of land ,hence any form of excavation activity for laying of new or maintenance of old lines would require extensive knowledge of their location .
